MOAT

3Com demonstration testbed to show benefits of ATM in an enterprise networking environment. MOAT I, conducted in Sept. 1996 under independent supervision, included the most demanding Ethernet-to-ATM tests to date in the largest ATM testbed ever assembled. MOAT I demonstrated the scalability of ATM LAN Emulation (LANE) in extremely large enterprise networks, and the performance/reliability of 3Com's ATM solutions under heavy. MOAT II, in the second half of 1997, will include multiple technologies--Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Token Ring, and FDDI--all supported through ATM Forum LANE with an ATM backbone.
